What is the best way to prepare for a job interview?
OK, long story short - I applied for a position just to see if I would get anywhere (position is higher than I am now in another company) and I have been selected for interview which is tomorrow at 10.00am.

It has been YEARS since I had an interview and I remember hating them. Not because of nerves but general anxiety about how I am answering. I either rush an answer and then when I have finished regret what I have said or I go off on one and speak for too long.

All I have done is a quick one hour read about the company which I am bound to forget if asked and of course can wangle answers to questions such as strengths and weaknesses, what can you bring to the company, why do you want to work here etc

I have also prepapred questions I would like to ask at the end of the interview - is it good practice or acceptable to have a notepad and papers on table to refer to rather than off the top of your head?

Suit is outm shirt is ironed and travel planned so that is all OK but being someone who has not been interviewed for YEARS I am wondering if there is anything else I should prepare for.

I guess it is normal to be nervous about interviews but I am more used to INTERVIEWING than the other way around.

I really want this job, it is an ambition of mine to flip burgers (-: ... in all seriousness though is there much else I can do? Can you over think it and prepare too much?

Cheers cunts - let the abuse begin!

Being born the son of the boss can't be beaten.

Although I somehow managed to fuck it up by being born the son of the son of an alcoholic, who fucked the business up before he could pass it on.

But I can't imagine being an upholsterer anyway.

Best preparation in my day was to become a Mason.

I've worked in a post room. Admittedly, it wasn't something I saw as a long-term thing, and it didn't turn out to be one either, but I didn't look down on my then colleagues at the time, and I don't now.

Re: What is the best way to prepare for a job interview?
This is an example of a good job interview:

Interviewer "Johnson can you operate a franking machine" ?

Johnson "Yes I can"

Interviewer "Excellent you've got the job. 9am start on Monday in the Post Room"

Johnson "Yes sir..I'm the man"

Feel free to find and replace the word 'Johnson' with in this list Surface, DaveT, Masked, Side of Ham.

If anyone gave me unsolicited and positive feedback, I'd consider that as an invitation to apply for future vacancies.

Can't see them being arsed unless they saw you as a good candidate beaten by an outstanding one.

I wouldn't have thought many places take the time to feed back why a candidate didn't get the job. Way of the world these days innit?

My guess is that it is a logistics issue.

Try calling them again when the chicken supplies have been fully restored.

Obviously, the best way to prepare for a job interview is to identify and assassinate your rivals...

Re: What is the best way to prepare for a job interview?
Sorry cunts not been on much lately

Well interview went well (so I thought) in fact so much so it was quite informal and more of a chat.

At the end I asked when I could expect to hear - answer was "by the end of next week" so that being 23rd.

....NOTHING

Today I decide to be proactive and call their HR department to get an update. They were very coy and simply said "I will ask (my interviewers) to send me feedback"

Basically I have deduced I obviously didn't get it and they had no intention of letting me know until I followed it up.

From my perspective, bullet dodged if that is how they operate - my guess is internal candidate stitch up. We have all been there, external candidate comes in for interview and staff know full well they are not getting the job.
